How praying for my future spouse helps me?

ree

Dating is in! And this often leads us to use validate dating relationship to validate ourselves. It's a recipe for toxic relationships. I used to really find myself validating who I am, in everything someone told me but it's been a while since I have stopped doing so. My senior introduced me to "Praying for your further husband" after I went through a bad relationship and I am so grateful.

It is isn't just about praying for the guy but it's all about praying for your own growth too. It's like umm... if I want a kind, humble guy then I must be the same as well. I can't be unkind, not understanding or arrogant. is whole process has helped me not just move on from the heartache but really better myself. There is a thrill to praying like "lord, I pray for his health, studies, etc" because I don't even know who he is but I know he is there. I trust that the Lord is going to bring him in my life at the right time, that is why I don't need validation from anyone. I don't need to feel the pressure to date.

One of the greatest dangers in dating is the tendency to adopt a consumer mentality rather than a companion mentality. Praying for my future husband has really helped me in building this companion mentality which not only has helped me grow but also helped me to go beyond the transient characteristics of an individual. Dating is not about chasing another person so that you can find your meaning and fulfillment in her or him. That's too much weight to put on any individual and that's not how we are built. We are not half of a person waiting for another half of a person to "complete" us. We are whole and loved by God as a single complete individual. Psalm 139:14 says "you are fearfully and wonderfully made".

Let us remember this everyday. Let us remember that we are a beautifully and fearfully created being who is well loved by God. We don't need to spend so much time trying to make ourselves loveable. Just be yourself. When you date another person the goal is to grow together so that you can encourage, challenge and shape each other.
