Who are you and what are you doing here?
Have you ever wondered on those lines? These are simple questions to look at, but they have a profound impact on what we do every day. The choices we make and how we make are deeply rooted in our understanding of who we are and why we exist. The world teaches us that to live means to enjoy – to be the best – to have it all, that is how it advertises itself and if you look around often, we are running this rat-race as well. The question is – what does God have to say about all this?
You see it’s an important matter, for if there is a God – it’s very important to know what He has to say about the world we live and even ourselves. If you disagree to the reality of God, then that’s another matter but if you agree then you cannot afford to be ignorant or act as such. That’s where the Bible comes in and with it comes Personal Bible Study!
It’s a mighty big opportunity to listen to the God of this Universe reveal not just information but rather Himself to us. Just as God is living so is his word to us – that’s what makes it ‘sharper than any double edged sword’ – it’s this element where God involves in the study of the Word through his Holy Spirit that ‘divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow;’[1] and transforms us from within, this is how I see Personal Bible Study. It is not so much about knowing but growing into who God wants me to be. It’s intrinsic to any and every disciple’s journey in faith. It’s a time of excitement where God speaks and deals with you and me.
[1] Hebrews 4:12
How then shall we study the Bible?
The whole of May 2022, we are going to focus on Inductive Bible Study. IBS is the method by which we do our personal Bible study. So join us every Saturday as we practice this method. In addition to that, please download the file attached below, it will help you understand how to study the Bible like a detective. Feel free to share your questions if any. God Bless!
